The Stratford Girls Lacrosse Club (SGLC) is a competitive girls lacrosse club with aspirations to compete for high school varsity state championships. We are a member club of US Lacrosse - the national organizing body for Lacrosse in the United States. The club was founded in Summer 2009 for girls attending Stratford High School (SHS). In the Fall of 2010 we expanded from a high school junior varsity team and formed a middle school program for girls in grades 6-8. In the Fall of 2011 we started our first varsity program. In the Spring of 2013 we will support a new SBMSA lacrosse program for 5th and 6th grade girls. Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the nation.
In Texas lacrosse is not currently a UIL sanctioned sport; HOWEVER, Lady Spartan Lacrosse IS an officially recognized club at SHS and has a faculty sponsor. Lacrosse is not yet recognized officially by the Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD)but, our teams do practice and play at SBISD facilities.
We are very proud of what our program has accomplished in its first four years and we look forward to building on those successes. Critical to that is growing the club with girls who share our core values of sportsmanship, competitiveness, safety and character.
This works hand in hand with our partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance, and the Double Goal coaching philosophy. First goal is to work hard to give team best chance for success. The second and more important goal is imparting the life lessons that come with being part of a team sport, which requires all four characteristics above.
