Varsity 3rd in State!!

The varsity ended the best season in program history 3rd place in state! In the quarterfinal round, the #2 seed Spartans dispatched Austin McNeil 12-6. We then watched rival Klein lose to Plano in their quarterfinal game, which meant we would be able to play yet another team we had not faced yet in the semis. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be, and we were behind at the end when the clock ran out against Plano. But it was wonderful to see how the girls fought to the end, and showed great class, as always!
To qualify for state, they first had to get through South District playoffs. After dispatching St. Pius in the semifinal round, Varsity took on Klein in the South district D2 championship game, and it was a doozy from the start! The girls were working so well together, and except for a brief period where Klein went ahead 3-2, and then the 4-4 score at half, the Spartans led most of the game. The second half saw the Spartans turn up the heat on the Bearkats, and ran up their lead to 11-6. That was enough to be able to run the clock out once Klein had gotten the score to 11-9; the Spartans ran their "Ice" stall to perfection to seal the win and the first D2 district championship in program history!
A 15-2 overall record, South District D2 champions for the first time, and overall #2 seed in state tournament...what a season! The girls got a great taste of what its like at the top of the mountain in Texas, and will be able to use that experience to grow and build on for the future.
Congrats to Catherine Parnell, Erin Fitzsimmons, Hannah Harrington, and Meredith Schomburg for being named to TGHSLL All-state team; first time our program has had that many players selected!

Middle School Team finishes

2nd place in Division!

The Middle School Spartans finished the year strong by taking second in city. They started out the end of season tournament with wins on Saturday against Woodlands, Friendswood and Gulf Coast Storm. Sunday saw a win against Pin Oak and ultimately losing the Championship game to Katy. The Lady Spartans had a phenomenal year. Go Spartans!!

After a difficult season the Lady Spartans JV Team was the #1 seed in the division.  At the End of Season Tournament they beat Awty International in the semi-finals 8-3.  In the championship game against St. Agnes, Stratford jumped out to an early 5-0 lead by halftime.  In the second half, St. Agnes methodically chipped away at the lead.  In the end the Spartans prevailed and won the game 6-5, to be crowned the City Champs!
